FamilyYak was born from the realization that every family's needs change dramatically as children grow. Rather than overwhelming parents with generic advice, FamilyYak surfaces exactly what matters at each life stage. The backend is built with C# and .NET 9 using Hot Chocolate for GraphQL, backed by PostgreSQL via Supabase. The frontend spans a React web app and a React Native mobile app sharing a core package of GraphQL operations and TypeScript types. AI features use Anthropic's Claude API — Haiku for recommendations and Sonnet for deeper insights — with rate limiting and cost monitoring through PostHog. The entire platform is designed for households, with role-based access, shared task lists, calendar integration, and collaborative decision-making tools.
